Brewster Murray is included on the Ausgrid architectural services panel and was commissioned to provide architectural design services including design team management, concept and detailed design and construction phase assistance for the Croydon Zone Substation.
Construction of the Croydon 132/11 kV zone substation in a well-established historic residential urban context required sympathetically design and selection of materials reflecting the character of adjoining small scaled residential development in order to ensure the bulk and scale of the facility did not overpower the existing fine grained nature of the locality.
Referencing the form of the existing redundant heritage substation building the new Croydon substation provides a sensitive design solution that integrates with existing building forms through use of traditional building forms and materials and careful siting.
