Brewster Murray has extensive expertise in facade remediation and cladding replacement, including on Telstra telecommunications buildings.
The existing precast concrete facade at Waymouth Exchange had suffered ongoing degradation and spalling. Over-cladding with Alpolic NC provides a long-term solution that protects the concrete from further degradation and prevents concrete falling from the building. The aluminium cladding also gives a fresh and modern look for the Telstra building.
The existing pre-cast concrete facade featured vertical recesses between panels, and it was decided to reflect these recesses in the new cladding. Connections had to be carefully detailed to allow the Alpolic NC to following the profile of the recesses. Brewster Murray worked with the contractors to fabricate large-scale prototypes on site to test the installation methodology and ensure quality of finish. Extensive investigation and testing of the panels was required to ensure they met the rigorous structural standards.
